Austen Ivereigh: “The Culture of Encounter: Can Pope Francis’ vision of fraternity counter the politicization of faith?”
This event has now ended. The recording is now available here in two parts.
On Saturday 15th May, Dr Austen Ivereigh, biographer of Pope Francis, led a Gidea Park live stream study day on the theme ‘The Culture of Encounter: Can Pope Francis’ vision of fraternity counter the politicization of faith?’
Dr Ivereigh explored the importance of the Abu Dhabi declaration, the recent encyclical on fraternity Fratelli Tutti, and the March 2021 visit of Pope Francis to Iraq.
Adrian Graffy: “The Gospel Of Mark” - Parts 1 & 2
On most Sundays in Ordinary Time throughout 2021 we are reading from the Gospel according to Mark. This evangelist created the gospel genre, and was the first to compose a gospel narrative. These two talks illustrate the skill with which Mark put his gospel together, and consider also how the later gospels of Matthew and Luke adapted what Mark wrote and added to it.
Fr Adrian Graffy is parish priest of Gidea Park in the diocese of Brentwood, England. He is a member of the Pontifical Biblical Commission, and delegate to the world-wide Catholic Biblical Federation. His ‘Sunday Gospels’ have recently been published by Darton, Longman and Todd.
Welcome to What Good News!
The Christian message is good news. That is essentially what ‘gospel’ means.
Our reaction as believers to the message of Jesus, and that of millions of people throughout the last two thousand years, has been one of gratitude.
With the apostle Paul we pray: ‘May the word of Christ in all its richness find a home in you.’ (Colossians 3:16)
